EXG-300 Etherscope nXG Overview
The EtherScope nXG Portable Network Expert is an integrated, versatile handheld device designed to help engineers and technicians work more efficiently by quickly deploying, maintaining, monitoring, analyzing and securing WiFi, Bluetooth/BLE and Ethernet access networks. The user friendly interface allows techs to complete trouble tickets, run speed tests, configure networked devices, and complete other tasks with its smart tester features. Thanks to its ease of use, comprehensive insights, and remote control capabilities, engineers can effectively utilize field technicians' on-site presence to speed up the troubleshooting process.
AutoTest
NetAlly's AutoTest is the EtherScope nXG's most detailed testing application. It facilitates rapid execution of diverse test types and allows for the storage of test configurations and network access details for later use. The application is fully customizable, offering "profiles" for testing various network connections and wireless air quality, as well as "test targets" that are compatible with all profiles.
WiFi Channels Map
This feature offers a graphical depiction of channel usage for both 802.11 and non-802.11 signals across the 2.4/5/6 GHz bands. It displays the number of APs and clients, along with the retry percentage for each channel.
Path Analysis
Path Analysis identifies the network path, including switches and routers, from the EtherScope nXG (connected over WiFi or Ethernet) to a specified URL or IP address. It utilizes SNMP queries to pinpoint problems like overloaded interfaces and device errors, and maps the network connections, including those to external devices.
This tool is capable of conducting tests through any of the four network interfaces that are connected and have an IP address.
AirMapper Site Survey for WiFi and Bluetooth/BLE
AirMapper* enables EtherScope nXG users to swiftly collect WiFi and Bluetooth/BLE data based on location and generate detailed heat maps of performance metrics on the Link-Live platform.
The EXG-300, an upgraded EtherScope nXG model with WiFi 6/6E capabilities, facilitates both active and passive surveys on the 6 GHz band.
Users can upload a floor plan image (.png or .jpg) and calibrate the floor plan dimensions (in meters or feet), then start data collection by tapping on the plan. Comments can be added with a long press. The collected data is saved and uploaded to Link-Live for sharing and analysis.
*Active AllyCare Premium Support required for in-depth AirMapper visualizations and filtering, automatic problem identification via InSites intelligence, detailed topology map controls, and advanced reporting options in Link-Live.
Performance
EtherScope nXG's Performance app conducts UDP traffic tests through its wired interface, measuring network performance against NetAlly endpoints in terms of throughput, loss, latency, and jitter.
It also supports iPerf testing for TCP/UDP network throughput over the EtherScope nXG's WiFi or wired connections to an iPerf v3.0 server.
The Right Tools For Network Testing
NetAlly’s test accessory (TEST-ACC) acts as an independent iPerf server. The user-friendly screen on NetAlly’s handheld network testers simplifies the process of conducting an iPerf test, making it easy to use for a wide audience. (Operation with LinkRunner G2 requires the use of third-party Android apps for iPerf testing, downloadable from the app store on Link-Live platform.)
Spectrum Analysis
With the NXT-1000 Mobile Spectrum Analyzer, EtherScope nXG analyzes RF interference in the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands, showcasing its effect on network performance. It provides real-time FFT, Spectrum Density, and Spectrogram visualizations for comprehensive interference analysis.
Insights Into Performance and Coverage
The external tri-band directional antenna (EXT-ANT-TRIBAND) improves signal reception and enhances the analyzer's coverage range. Detect and analyze signals across multiple frequency bands from 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, to 6 GHz. Its directional nature helps focus on specific areas or access points by identifing signal strength and potential coverage gaps.
LANBERT Media Qualification App
NetAlly's LANBERT app quickly evaluates the transmission quality and bandwidth capacity of copper and fiber networks, supporting various rates on both mediums. LANBERT generates and measures the transmission of line rate Ethernet frames over your network cabling infrastructure, qualifying its ability to support 1G/10G on fiber and 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G on copper links. This assessment requires two compatible NetAlly devices.
